MSR Trail Lite 1.3 L Pot

The new MSR Trail Lite 1.3 L Pot is a practical 1.3 litre hard-anodized aluminium cooking pot for camping and trekking. It is a lightweight pot with a locking lid and folding handle for neat & compact stowing.

The 1.3 litre capacity pot is large enough for simple one to two person meals or can be used as a support pot for a larger group.

The hard-anodized aluminium is scratch resistant and distributes heat evenly. It is less sensitive to high temperatures that can ruin some non-stick surfaces, yet still easier to clean than raw aluminium.

Its compact shape and folding/locking handle help the pot fit easily in smaller packs, so you can move quickly to cover the miles.

The transparent lid has a lifting handle and strainer holes.  The handle hinges over the top of the lid and locks it in position.

Editor’s Comments: Hard anodised aluminium is stronger and harder than regular aluminium so the Trail Lite is rugged and dependable.  Where non-stick linings are desirable for cooking delicate (and sticky) foods such as omelettes, most people will be keeping it simple with to wet or dry packet foods. Most foods won’t stick to the hard anodised finish and it is relatively easy to clean. The trick is to stir you food regularly to keep it moving, use a moderate heat rather than cranking your stove up to the maximum, and never walk away from your food while its cooking.
The overall design is well thought out.  Its a convenient and practical size thats easy to stow. The lid locks in place so you can store a small stove and brew kit inside which is easy to grab whenever you want to stop for a quick cuppa.
