When you think of a stew, you tend to think of potatoes and dumplings in a meaty gravy. The Trek nโ Eat Forest Stew is very nearly there in that it has a very tasty gravy with small pieces of beef (7% overall, equal to about 55 grams of fresh meat), but no potatoes and dumplings.
The starch content is made up by durum wheat pasta which works much better than potatoes in this case, as dehydrated spud doesnโt rehydrate as well as pasta.
Lots of thought has gone into the gravy and you might be surprised to see porcini mushrooms and blueberries on the list of ingredients as well as the usual herbs and spices. This complicated recipe makes for a depth of flavour which means you can eat a whole pack and not get bored with the taste. It’s not like a Bovril soup with pasta; it stands on its own two feet as a tasty meal full of flavour.
