The Western Mountaineering Ultralite is one of our favourite bags from any brand anywhere…ever!
We like it because it is extremely versatile, combining the lightest weight with the warmest performance. Just take a look at the EN. T-limit test results and the weight: -7°Celcius for a 820 gram (medium size) sleeping bag. That is lighter than RAB’s lightest four season bag, but where the competition has a ½ length zip the WM. Ultralite has a full length zip with anti-snag stiffener. It also has a realistic fit.
Furthermore because it has Western Mountaineering’s continuous baffle system, the down can be teased into the underside making it cooler for sleeping on summers evenings and then moved back over the top in a 50/50 or 60/40 split for three and four season use respectively. [Please ask if you would like more information about this, Adam]
The Western Mountaineering Ultralite is also highly compressible, so it takes up less room in your pack (about 8.4 litres without over compressing it). So now you can have a smaller pack… and that means more weight saving!
The UL is perfect for all U.K. trekking, Pyrenees and Alpine Summer trekking, Cycle touring, desert trekking, camping, hut to hut….the list goes on and on.
Editors Comments: A friend of mine has one of these. She says “Not only is it the best sleeping bag I have ever owned, but it is one of the nicest things I have ever owned.” I tend to agree, it is a fantastic bag.
